Hey John all your advice has worked for me so far so here it goes again,

Someone in my league is offering a pick of his RB’s for a QB. In the league I am in QB’s typically score the most points and we are allowed to start 1 of them and can start another in the flex position. I have both Rodgers and Romo. I also have Painter on my bench for bye weeks. My RB situation is Turner, Lynch, and Hightower. The person offering the trade has Foster, CJ2K, and Wells. Do you think it would be wise to trade Romo for Foster? Or possibly maybe even get him to give up Mark Sanchez and Wells for Romo?

    Thanks!

  • sergey:

What do you think of Percy Harvin for the rest of the year now that Ponder is starting? Can’t be worse than McNabb is my thinking.

  • James:

What 2 WR and 1 flex would you choose for week 7?

I have Colston, Brandon LLoyd, Pierre Garcon, James Jones, and James Starks. Can’t trust Starks. And Jones had one catch last week that just happened to be a touchdown. So i’m thinking Colston, Garcon and Lloyd. But who knows with Lloyd this week.

    Thank you for your insight!

    James

    • John Paulsen:

Definitely Colston and Garcon. After that, I’d lean Starks over Lloyd.

      • James:

Thanks John! Glad to be able to lean on your expertise.

      • Willie:

        Hello,
Because of the BYE week I have B.Wells, J. Starks, Sproles ( Flex), Boldin, & D.Baldwin. I have Fred Davis as my TE. On my Bench I have K. Walter and Caddilac Williams. Not sure what to make of Starks this week. Thinking of sitting Starks and putting in Walter as the FLEX but not sure. Should I ride it out with Starks or try switching it up with another combo? Thanks in advance

        • John Paulsen:

PPR I would consider swapping Starks for Walter, but in a standard league I’d roll with the RB. Neither guy is a sure thing.

  • Mike:

Hey, John. Appreciate your rankings as you’ve been mostly on the money so far this season. A lot of “experts” are predicting doom and gloom for Santana Moss with the change in QBs. Given his top 20 rnaking, I’m guessing you don’t buy it. Can you please explain your ranking? I have to decide whether to start Moss or Little this week. Also, would you drop Hightower for Hardesty, Murray, Tate, and Brown (would put in waiver claims and not sure who I’d get since I’m in the middle of the waiver order)?

    Thanks!

    • John Paulsen:

I am generally a fan of S. Moss – Beck may be an upgrade over Grossman. You could certainly start Little however. It’s not like I have them ranked 20 spots apart.

  • Bobby:

    John,

Your advice has continued to help my team win for two seasons now! Would you mind giving me your input on this question… in a PPR, who do you like better as a flex? DeMarco Murray or Greg Little? Little’s receiving lots of targets the last couple of games, but I keep hearing good things about Murray against a porous Rams defense. What do you think?

  • Larry 2 Dogs:

    Mr. Paulsen,

How far would Antonio Brown move up in the ppr rankings if Mike Wallace does not practice on Friday?

    Thank you

  • Lou:

Drop 2 out of the 4 WRs??: Santana Moss, Eric Decker, Mike Williams (TB), Julio Jones.. Who would you drop? Now that Bradford has Lloyd/Clayton to throw to , would you drop Cutler and pick up Sam Bradford for the rest of the season? THanks JP for all of your advice!!!!!!!

  • alex:

    John,

Both my running backs are on bye (Ahmad Bradshaw & Fred Jackson). I’ve got Addai and Pierre Thomas sitting on the bench but what other options are out there? Any sleepers/favorable matchups you like who have a decent chance of being available in a 12-man league?

I promise not to send you any hate mail… its all just fun and games…sorta…

    -Alex

p.s. Jackie Battle, Earnest Graham, Montario Hardesty, DeMarco Murray are not available. Although Ronnie Brown and Maurice Morris are.

  • ike:

    Hey JP,

My running back situation has deteriorated to a pretty grim picture. This week, with Jahvid Best probably out, I’ll have to start Torain and Hightower both, which means Shanahan will give the rock to Helu.

So: I can drop Hightower for Choice. Or Donald Brown. We’re a 16 team league and all the “good” options this week are gone (Graham, Hardesty, Murray, Morris are all gone.) The other option is to take my medicine and pick up CJ Spiller instead, and hope for better long term value from him as a wide receiver. (We are standard though, not PPR). What do you think? Are there any deep sleepers I’m missing?

Related question: What do you think about this trade?

I give: Cam Newton, Ryan Torain.
I get: Tim Tebow, Chris Johnson

    Thanks, man!

    Ike

    • John Paulsen:

If you cut Hightower you could miss out on a productive RB if/when Torain gets hurt. I like the trade for you. Downgrade from Newton to Tebow, but he should be good, and you get a better RB with some upside.

  • Otto:

    Trade Question – PPR league

I have an offer to receive Aaron Rodgers and Vincent Jackson for Matt Forte and Matt Schaub.

Forte is a PPR monster and I am afraid Rodgers could “slow down” during the playoffs (weeks 15 and 16)

I also have LeSean Mccoy, Steve Smith and Mike Wililiams (TB), DeMarco Murray and Earnest Graham

    Help would be much appreciated

  • Remy:

    Hi John,
I need to make roster space to pick up another player for the bye. Which one would you drop between Antonio Brown, Jacoby Ford, and Nate Burleson? Thanks!!

  • Alex P.:

    Hey John,
Thanks for all the rankings every week!
Do you think dropping Roy Helu for Maurice Morris would be a good idea? Either of them would only ever be used in a flex, or an emergency RB for injury or BYE weeks.

    Thanks!

  • Will:

Hey John, can you name some RBs who you think could be traded for Fitzgerald in a 10 team standard (either 1-1 trade or 2-1)? I know he’s considered a No.1 but hasn’t produced No.1 type numbers. Thanks, I appreciate your time.

  • Alex:

    Hey John,
Thanks for the rankings each week!
Would you drop Roy Helu for Maurice Morris? (my previous comment was deleted/removed for some reason, probably user error on my part).

    Thanks!

  • Don:

Hi, I was wondering why Nate Wash is so low. Hes been much more consistant than someone like Santana. Just wondering why..Thanks!

    • John Paulsen:

You’ll see that I moved Moss down some in the last update. I’m worried about Beck as the starter.

But has Nate been more consistent? I look at the last two weeks and he has 12 targets (#3 on team) and a total of 7-131-0.

  • shizziest:

when in doubt go to the fantasy shrink!
this week I need to start a wr and flex between torrey smith doug baldwin and james starks.. I was thinking baldwin and starks but I am obviously interested in your thinking
    thanks in advance!

  • Hi John

My first fantasy season for NFL, new fan from the UK supporting the Bears in London this week. I have Willis McGahee as a starting RB this week as Fred Jackson is a bye. I also have Bowe and Steve Smith in my WR spots and Fitz in my flex but not sure whether to trade out McGahee with Tebow coming in. Only a small 6 man league so all of the big waiver RB are still available. Do you think it is worth trading Mcgahee for someone like Battle, Tolbert or Graham?

Tried joining 4for4 but think I am cast out as from the UK!

    Cheers
    Sean

    • John Paulsen:

Greetings Sean — I don’t think it’s worth cutting McGahee for any of the RBs you mentioned. Graham might be a better play this week, but not by much, and McGahee should have more value going forward.

As for 4for4, foreign credit cards sometimes get declined, not sure why. (Any detail you can provide would be helpful.) But PayPal is always an option. Good luck this weekend!

  • Jameson:

JP, it must have been tough to rank McCoy ahead of Rivers. I had been struggling with that decision all week and decided on McCoy. 1 passing TD allowed in the past 5 weeks (to Brady) is enough for me to avoid the Jets D for this week.

My question is, if you’re so high on McCoy, why not Little? It’d be nice to hear your reasoning on why you’d start a slumping Wayne over Little. Thanks man, I really enjoy your work.

    • John Paulsen:

I am reasonably high on Little, but he’s a rookie so there is some worry there. Wayne faces NO, so it’s a good matchup and could be a shootout.

  • dan:

You’re the man for adding flex!

  • Kim:

    Yes. John, you rock, man!

  • Johnny:

    Hey JP,

With Bradford now downgraded to “Out”. Will Dallas DEF ranked higher? and what does that do to their WR/TE corp ? Would you downgrade Witten, as-in, would you start Gonzo over Witten ?

    Cheers

  • OverMatched:

    John,

Great site. I have both battle and torrain as a bye week fill in. KC coaches said today that Battle will get 25 plus touches. Isn’t he a better bet than Torrain? Both are going against weaker rush defenses. Your ranking as of last night put Torrain ahead of Battle. Will that change?

    Thanks again.

    • John Paulsen:

Where did the coaches say that Battle would get 25 touches? Are you talking about Rotoworld saying he could see “as many as 25 totes”? Big difference.

I like Battle this week and he’s probably a safer start than Torain, but Torain has the better rush matchup. OAK has been good the last two weeks against Foster & the CLE RBs.

  • Russ:

    Hi John,

Thanks for the new flex rankings. Are they based on a ppr or standard scoring format?

    Thanks!

  • Dan:

    John,

Thanks for the help so far this season. I’m sitting at 5-1 with what could be called a questionable team at best, and your rankings heve helped me with the waiver wire so far.

I need a QB to fill in for Brady. I picked up Cassel as a FA, but was also looking at Cutler/Freeman as options. You have Cassel ranked higher, and vs. Oakland’s 28th ranked D it’s understandable.

But what about Freeman (Tampa passing ranks 14th in the NFL) going up against the Bears’ 29th ranked defense, with Tampa having spent a week in London getting used to the jet lag and the Bears only having 48 hours in London to adjust?

I’m thinking of dropping Cassel and picking up Freeman. I think Tampa did right in getting to London early, and I think Oakland is going to turn it up a few notches against their division rival Chiefs at home. Thoughts?

  • russ:

Can anyone tell me if the flex rankings are ppr or standard scoring system????
