Journey Through the Box Scores: Week 2
Every week, I try to go through all the box scores and pick out a few interesting tidbits for fantasy owners. I post them on Twitter as I go, but below is a compilation of this week’s tweets.
- DMC 27 touches, 143 yards, 2 TD; Bush 4 touches, 23 yards, TD; Bush still vulturing some goal line looks, but DMC getting a ton of work.
- Hagan 5-61 overshadowed by D. Moore’s big day. If Ford/DHB continue to be sidelined, might be worth a look.
- Fred Jackson has 229 rushing yards in last two weeks. 38 touches vs. Spiller’s 11. F-Jax upcoming sched: NE, CIN, PHI, NYG.
- David Nelson 10-83-1 on 13 targets. Stevie 20 targets, Nelson 19, D. Jones 11, Chandler 9.
- Jahvid Best 3.6 ypc, lackluster rushing once again. However he posted 6-66 in the passing game plus two TDs.
- Nate Burleson 7-93, leading the Lions in targets. Don’t forget about him, especially in PPR leagues. Titus Young 7 targets (5-89).
- Brandon Pettigrew 1-7 on three targets. Yeesh. Sit him down. Scheffler 1-36-1 on four targets.
- Nate Washington 7-99…13 catches through two games. Targets so far: Britt (23), Washington (18), CJ2K (12), Cook (5).
- Hillis 27 carries to Hardesty’s three. Total touches were 31 to 3. Not worried about Montario right now.
- Delone Carter, 11 carries for 46 yards (4.2), but Addai produced 64 yards on 14 carries (4.6) along with 4-37 in passing game.
- Greg Little once again played more snaps than any other CLE WR, per PFF. Little (48), Mass (39), Cribbs (29), Robiskie (26).
- Evan Moore only played nine snaps, and had just one target (which was a TD). Be careful. Watson played 66 snaps, per PFF.
- Austin Collie saw 10 targets per ESPN, 8 per PFF – I’m holding for now, but with D. Moore, Nelson, Decker out there, it’s tough…
- Josh Freeman is a white-knuckle start – 144 yds, 0 TD heading into 4th, finished with 243 & a TD. Seems like he always scores big in 4th.
- Not sure what to make of Benn vs. Parker. Benn starter but Parker 13 targets to Benn’s 9. 10-142 Parker, 5-52-1 Benn.
- Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin are the only Vikings I’d even consider starting at this point.
- I thought LeGarrette Blount would go the way of the dodo once TB fell behind, but they stuck with run. 71 yds, 2 TD.
- Chicago Bears: 45 pass attempts, 12 rushes. Yeesh. Thought Cutler was going to have a bigger day, but he had no time.
- NO targets: Sproles (10), Graham (7), Meachem, Moore and Pierre (4), Henderson (3), Arrington (2)
- Holding onto Mike Thomas — 21 targets through two games. Jets were a terrible matchup and TEN is playing good D as well.
- Jets targets: Holmes & Keller (14), Burress (11, just 2 in W2), LT2 (9), Mason (8)
- Mendenhall owners should handcuff Isaac Redman. That is all.
- Antonio Brown 15 targets, tied with Ward for #2 on team. Sanders (6) is behind H. Miller (8).
- Don’t know what to say about the Seahawks. Rush schedule will get easier, but it’s tough to wait on Lynch.
- Fred Davis is the real deal. TE1-caliber the rest of the way.
- Gaffney a Burlesonesque spot starter in PPR. 8-116-1 on 15 targets through two weeks.
- Beanie Wells – 14 carries, 93 yards, TD. Two targets, no catches. Looks like a solid RB2 going forward.
- Tony Romo earned some brownie points with his 345-yard, 2-TD, punctured lung performance in W2. Impressive.
- Felix Jones love bubble officially deflating. WAS, DET up next.
- Paging Vernon Davis. Please pick up the white courtesy phone.
- Cautiously optimistic about CIN passing game. Dalton looks sharp, but DEN pass D dreadful on Sunday. Simpson/Green talent WR…Gresham…
- Eric Decker 5-113-2, but what happens when Lloyd returns? Can a J. Fox offense support two fantasy WRs?
- McGahee a solid, high-usage start with Moreno out. Had him at #20 last week. 28 carries!
- Hartline saw 7 targets to Bess’s 5. For season, Hartline (14) and Bess (12). Like both as filler WR in PPR formats.
- Daniel Thomas 19 touches, 117 yards; Reggie Bush 7 touches, 21 yards. What happened to 70/30 Bush/Thomas split?!?
- Jacoby Jones disappoints me yet again. 3-48, but only 4 targets, so not necessarily his fault.
- Chad Henne falls to Earth with 12/30, 170-yard performance.
- Hernandez injury pushes Gronkowski into TE3 territory. Kid is a beast. Branch a solid WR2/WR3 with Ocho’s struggles.
- Antonio Gates, one target. ONE! Argh!
- Law Firm will score more when Pats have the lead, Woody when they are tied or trailing. NE should lead most of the time.
- Jeremy Maclin! STL game was an aberration. Don’t expect 15 targets every week though. WR2 going forward, though QB situation is dicey.
- Julio Jones has 13 targets in two games. Production should get better as season wears on.
- MSW 6-92 vs. Giants. More typical of his production going forward. 11 targets Mon night.
- What kind of line does Manningham finish with if he catches that bomb cleanly instead of concussing himself? Good grief.
- Danario Alexander is the fastest guy with bad knees that I’ve ever seen. 3-122-1 on seven targets.
- Giants bottled up both THT and Cadillac Williams. Not looking like a great start for opposing RBs, though McCoy in W3 will be tough test.
- Still relatively optimistic about Bradford. Low completion percentage, but 331 yards and a TD.
That concludes my Journey Through the Box Scores this week. Thank you for reading.

I own both Fred Davis and Owen Daniels. Looking to trade one. Who would you rather have going forward?
Daniels is slightly safer, IMO, but they’re about the same.

GB seems to be set on giving both Starks and Grant carries/targets. Do you think Starks will ever become the lead back or it is going to be a 60/40ish split for the rest of the year?
Also whats your take on the Carolina backfield? Who is the guy to own?
Please see this.
Ahhh gotcha
You said that Mendenhall owners should pick up Redman. The only expendable player on my bench is C.J. Spiller. Do you think it’s a good idea to drop him for Redman?
PPR? If so, Spiller is probably worth holding onto. If not, then grab Redman. If Mendy goes down he’ll be a RB starter.

I’m in a non-PPR league. Thanks for the advice.
